FOCUS ON THE PHOTOGRAPHY FAMILY

Do you have a Family Photograph on Your Wall?
ASWPP will focus on the photographers family in 2012. We will give spouses, partners and kids an opportunity to get an insight into the photography industry, and also give you the opportunity of having some family photographs taken. We will do this by having a photographers family barbecue.

Photographer Sara Prior is hosting this great event. Sara has a great studio set up, with a natural light studio area, and a great park next door so that we can all photograph each others family. Feel free to bring a change of clothes. There will be plenty of activities for the kids, and a barbecue. Just bring along your choice of drinks. Let us acknowledge the family behind the business.

Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)  to confirm that you are attending as we will have limited numbers.

Melbourne   Sunday 11 March   10am-2pm.
Location:  Sara Prior Photography   90 Canterbury Road Canterbury Vic

HOME STUDIO OR SHOPFRONT?

The decision to operate your photography business from home, should be made only after a lot of discussion and planning with those that also livein the household. If this is not done then there may be conflicts with your family either earlier in the business or later down the track. You must find a way to have a balance of work and family life. Owning your own photography business and operating it from home, can be the ideal situation for yourself and your family. What hurdles are you experiencing right now? Money? Time management? Kids? Husband or wife? Holding onto a current job? Fear of failure? If it’s something you really want, don’t let anything stand in your way.
I don’t have enough money.
Don’t worry, many successful photographers started with very little money, yet despite this, they still managed to turn their photography business into a very lucrative and profitable concern, with thousands of dollars turnover.
My spouse doesn’t think I will have enough time for the kids and run a business.
If you have a spouse or partner and kids, you have to get everyone on the same page with you, if your business is to succeed. Having constant disagreements is going to cause nothing but stress, and that is not something you need to be dealing with when starting a new business. The best approach is to hold a family meeting, and let everyone tell their concerns, and then you can address them with your solution.
This is an extract from the book “How to Turn Your Portrait Photography into A Money Making Machine” by Bernie Griffiths.

Introducing Skype Consulting

RUNNING A PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS IS NOT EASY

This is what a lot of photographers have told me. Especially when you are isolated in a country area, or run the business on your own. It can be lonely. It is not easy. Running a business from home can also be stressfull, with the pressures of balancing family life. The market place is also very competitive, with photographers opening up on seemingly every street corner. Wouldn’t it be great to have an edge over your competition?

Starting a photography business without any training, and very little capital, can be daunting. I have seen over my forty years of owning a studio, some photographers become millionaires, while others have failed. What is the secret of success? I believe that everyone has the secret hidden inside of them, but sometimes they just need that spark or inspiration to start the ” fire of success.”  The one key ingredient for success is passion. Not being able to see failure. Your passion will drive you. I can give you a road, for your passion to drive along.

Are You Looking At Taking That “Next Step” In Your Photography Business?

There is one fact I know…. Business is harder than ever before.
Running a small photography studio has never been more challenging to achieve success.
Sadly success will only come to a small number of studios that operate today.
The rest will more likely be closing their doors within the next 2 years.

I HAVE A POSSIBLE BRAND NEW SOLUTION

Through the magic of SKYPE, I am talking “face to face” with photographers around Australia, and helping them with all of their business needs. We talk on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Using Skype means that I can show photographers solution to problems, as well as talk to them about their creation of more business, pricing, customer problems etc.
There is also the commitment of meeting on a regular basis, giving inspiration and motivation.

ASWPP Skype Consulting is a “mentor me” program that adds another staff member to your business, without the high cost.

What others have said….....

“Just a quick note to say thank you for opening my eyes and getting me away from the rut I was in. You were correct with the new display products required at the studio and from which the portrait sales have been so much easier. The selling system that you introduced me to where the products are displayed and the client is allowed to purchase is fantastic, I am very comfortable with this and am sure it has helped. I have just had a record sales week of $4500 of portrait sales. Just need to keep this momentum going, next stop world domination”.....
.......David Thomlinson.

“Huge thanks to you Bernie for making the journey down to Hobart yesterday. Dan and I (and I’m sure everyone else) were able to take away a few real gems from the seminar that we are excited about implementing into our workflow.
There was plenty of other little gems so I wont name them all.Just a massive thanks to go to the trouble of coming down here.”
.....Dean Mansbridge. AIPP Tasmanian Wedding Photographer of the Year 2010.
